Angel Contreras is a violist from Valencia, Venezuela. His studies include training at the Carabobo Music Conservatory, the Central-Western University “Lisandro Alvarado”, and the Mozarteum School of Music in Caracas, where he studied with Adriana Virgüez Cruz. He has been a member of the Carabobo Symphony Orchestra, the Lara Symphony Orchestra, and the Adventist Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela, where he served as Principal Viola, clinician, and Assistant Conductor. He has also appeared with the Symphony Orchestra of Northern Virginia, the New England Youth Ensemble, and the New England Symphonic Ensemble.

As an interdisciplinary musician, he studied composition with renowned Venezuelan composers like Miguel Astor, with arrangements of his authorship performed in sought-after spaces like NPR Tiny Desk Concerts.

In 2023, he received a scholarship to study Music Performance at Washington Adventist University under violist Dr. Dan Zhang. During this time, he has participated in Masterclasses with world-renowned performers like Paul Huang and Daniel Foster and has also been studying orchestral conducting under Professor David Searle. As a committed performer, he has accumulated regular engagements at Carnegie Hall in New York City and the Strathmore Music Center in Maryland, and has also performed for diplomatic audiences such as the U.S. Senate and the Chinese and Vatican Embassies.
